Two Months, Nine Weeks - How confusing!
It's birthday time again! On Feb. 20th, Kai turned two months old! Yeah! On Feb. 21st, Kai turned 9 weeks old! Yeah! OK - WHICH is the CORRECT format for newborns?! People always ask: "How old is he?" (Or sometimes "How old is SHE?" when they guess incorrectly.) Should I say he's now 61 days old? Or maybe 1,464 hours old is better? Perhaps even 87,840 minutes old? He is of course, ALL of these ages - yeah (again)! As a new parent, it is confusing when I hear people speak of their children being something like 42 weeks old. What exactly does that mean? Is that MORE accurate than saying 10 1/2 months old? I may never understand this...
Anywhoo, let me just say that Kai's second month of life has been much easier than the first month. Perhaps he has better transitioned from living in an internal world to an external one; or perhaps, we are becoming "more experienced" as parents and can better determine what his needs are. I suspect that it is a combination of the two. Regardless, the last month with Kai has been a joy. On top of the regular (and much loved) smiles that we get from him, he is now starting to babble, saying profound things such as "ah-ooo" or "wa-ooo" on a daily basis. It is so great to hear him "talk" now!
He is also now starting to "stand". I know - it is IMPOSSIBLE for a two-month (9 week) old to stand, but he does like to think he can and when we set him on his feet (holding him of course!), he tries really hard to stiffen his legs and stand up straight. It is so great to see the determination on his face; I hope he has this much passion for future endeavors!

I'm two months old - happy birthday to me!

I have REALLY cool parents!

I think I'm going to spit up on mom...good times!
Well, it's time to get back to the family. We will try to post a little more regularly in the future.
It's almost springtime!

Swing

Putting miles on the new swing!
